Not to mention mobile phones with the ability to surf the ‘net.  Electronic marketing comes to us from all directions.</p>
<p>Essentially, digital marketing has two approaches: Push marketing, which is when a business actively sends marketing messages via email or RSS feeds to the consumer.  The basis of this type of digital marketing is getting permission from the prospect to send emails or continued RSS feeds.  This is how successful marketers, both online and offline, build and maintain their businesses.</p>
<p>The other approach, that of pull marketing, involves the consumer when he or she is searching for information and lands on your site, sees a banner ad, a catchy title to a video which leads him or her to view more about the subject, which may tell them to buy or subscribe.</p>
<p>As you can see, any business will use both approaches to digital marketing, by making a content rich site that answers specific topics or has ads, which answers the viewers’ burning questions.  Then where appropriate, you get them to give their name and email contact information so you may continue to market to them.</p>

<p>A long tail keyword is a phrase that is typically what the searcher enters when looking at a subject with a more particular target in mind.  Say you want to find a particular dog collar.  Your search would be better served if you type in “Brand X electronic dog training collar” rather than “dog training collar.”</p>
<p>It follows that the person who is typing in a more specific search phrase is looking for answers and/or shopping, not just surfing the ‘net.  It’s in the web designer’s best interest to learn how to optimize long tail keywords into article titles, throughout the article content and even do some text linking to other sites that have the same search term.</p>
<p>Generally speaking, when you incorporate the long tail search term into your content, you should include it in the title, the first paragraph and last paragraph and 2 -3 more times throughout the body of the article depending on the article’s length.</p>
